ZPL PCFACM Material

This section contains three key documents that guide your participation in the programme:

  • Programme Regulations (Regs): Explain the rules of the qualification, assessment requirements, passing criteria, progression, and licensing expectations for football administrators.

  • Course Outline: Summarises the themes, learning areas, and competencies covered across the modules, indicating what learners are expected to know and be able to do.

  • Delivery Brief Schedule: Shows how the programme will run over the academic cycle, including module sequencing, timelines, teaching periods, and assessment windows.

Together, these documents provide clarity on what the programme requires, what you will learn, and how learning will be delivered. Learners must review and keep these for reference throughout the programme.

Foundations Of Football Administration And Club Management

Foundations of Football Administration & Club Management is a core introductory mini-module designed to provide learners with a shared conceptual and professional grounding in how football organisations are administered and managed. It serves as the gateway module for the Professional Certificate in Football Administration & Club Management, ensuring that all participants—regardless of background or role—begin the programme with a common understanding of key concepts, language, and professional expectations.

The module recognises that modern football success is shaped as much off the pitch as on it. It introduces learners to the fundamental roles of football administration and club management, highlighting how effective organisation, governance, and professionalism support sporting performance, financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and institutional credibility.

Learners are introduced to:

  • The meaning and purpose of football administration and club management

  • Key distinctions between football administration, club management, sports administration, and sports management

  • Core principles such as organisation, accountability, compliance, integrity, communication, planning, and professionalism

  • A brief historical context explaining how football administration has evolved

  • Basic football club operations, including player administration, match organisation, documentation, and stakeholder coordination

The focus of the mini-module is conceptual clarity and operational awareness, rather than technical depth. By the end of the module, learners are equipped to understand how administrative and management functions underpin football performance and long-term sustainability, preparing them for deeper engagement with advanced modules on governance, finance, competitions, marketing, and leadership

Reflective Practice & Critical Thinking for Football Leaders

Reflective Practice & Critical Thinking for Football Leaders is a 10-credit stand-alone professional micro-credential that develops reflective practice and critical thinking as core leadership competencies for football administrators and leaders.

The module equips learners to learn systematically from experience, question assumptions, evaluate evidence, and make ethical, accountable, and defensible decisions in complex football governance environments. It responds directly to the realities of modern football leadership, including pressure, public scrutiny, ethical dilemmas, political dynamics, and high-stakes decision-making.

Delivered through a service-delivery, workplace-embedded learning model, the course ensures that reflection and critical analysis are applied directly to real leadership situations within football clubs, leagues, and governing bodies. Learners engage with structured reflective frameworks, critical thinking tools, ethical reasoning, and experiential learning approaches, supported by learning logs, applied case studies, and formative quizzes.

The module may be completed as a stand-alone micro-credential or accumulated as one of the sixteen compulsory modules contributing to the 160-credit ZPL Professional Certificate in Football Administration & Club Management.

Applied Strategic & Business Planning in Football

Applied Strategic & Business Planning in Football equips football administrators with the practical knowledge and applied skills required to plan, govern, and sustain football organisations in complex and resource-constrained environments. The module focuses on how strategic thinking, situational analysis, business planning, and financial discipline underpin long-term organisational credibility and performance in football.

Rather than treating strategy as a theoretical exercise, the module emphasises applied decision-making, using real football contexts—particularly within Zambia and similar African settings—to examine how poor planning, weak governance, and short-term thinking contribute to recurring crises in clubs and leagues. Learners are introduced to widely used strategic tools and frameworks and guided to apply them directly to their own organisations using real data, realistic constraints, and evidence-based judgement.

The module recognises that football organisations often operate under pressure from supporters, sponsors, media, and regulators. It therefore develops the capacity of football leaders to move beyond reactive crisis management towards deliberate, accountable, and sustainable planning. Core themes include strategic thinking, situational analysis, vision and objective setting, business and financial planning, and the implementation, monitoring, and review of strategy in practice.

By the end of the module, learners are better equipped to align sporting ambition with organisational capacity, strengthen governance systems, and make informed strategic choices that protect the long-term integrity and sustainability of football organisations.

Football Marketing, Sponsorship and Commercial Partnerships

This course equips football administrators and club leaders with the knowledge and practical skills required to design, manage, and sustain commercial activity within modern football environments. It positions football marketing, sponsorship, and commercial partnerships as systems of value creation rather than promotional or fundraising tools.

Grounded in African and Zambian football realities, the course emphasises stakeholder value, brand identity, ethical leadership, and long-term sustainability. Learners develop the ability to attract and retain partners, engage fans meaningfully, and protect institutional credibility while supporting financial resilience.

Delivered through an applied and workplace-embedded learning model, the course ensures that learning is directly transferable to real football club, league, and competition contexts.
