Prof Oscar Mwaanga

Chairman

Professor Oscar Mwaanga is the chairman and founder of the Zambian Institute of Sports. He is also the Programme Director of the International Sport Management Programme at University of London and an Emeritus Associate Professor with Solent University (UK). 

Oscar is also the founder of EduMove Limited (UK), EduSportFoundation (Zambia) and the lead Sport Policy consultant with the African Union. Oscar holds a visiting professor position at Kwame Nkrumah University as well as visiting scholar roles at both University of Tsukuba (Japan) and Pan African University (Nigeria). He is also a fellow of the  esteemed Royal Society for Arts(F-RSA)and Centre Of Online And Distance Education(CODE).

Oscar is a highly respected leader in the Sport for Development and Peace (SDP) movement. He has spearheaded the founding of several renowned SDP programs and methodologies, including Kicking AIDS Out, Go Sisters, Umutima Network, and SDP Peer Coaching. His commitment to creating meaningful change through sport has been recognized worldwide as he stands out among 21st century global leaders of the recent SDP movement. 

His recent work focuses on researching and advocacy for the Physically Active Teaching & Learning (PATL) pedagogy, decolonisation of Higher Education (HE) and Sport for Development and Peace (SDP) as leadership development and mentorship of the next generation of leaders and managers in HE and SDP.

 

Francis Mwaanga

Managing Partner

Francis Mwaanga is a managing partner and country director of the Zambian institute of sports and also a co founder of Kwacha wellness holistic health programme. The health program focuses on an approach to wellness that simultaneously addresses the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual components of health. As a field of practice, holistic health draws from many disciplines, religions, and cultures to heal people, communities, and even the environment.

Francis is also a 6th year medical student at Lusaka Apex medical university persuing his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery(MBchB), Francis also holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Human Biology degree.  His recent works at the company focuses on achieving ZIS's main focus i.e helping the government to bridge the technical human resource gaps as it endeavors to transform the sports industry in Zambia.
